Advice and guidance
All boys are encouraged to make an appointment with a member of the Careers Department if they have queries or concerns about their future. Each boy is seen individually in the Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Forms when major decisions are made about choices of AS and A2 subjects and HE courses. In the Fifth Form all boys complete the Cambridge Occupational Analysts’ Preview Careers Programme which helps them make sensible decisions about options at 16+. We give considerable support to Sixth and Seventh Formers with their online UCAS applications.
Members of staff are always available to give advice when results are published in the summer. The work of the Department is supported by guest speakers from industry, professional bodies and HE institutions, visits to HE conventions, a programme of work experience at the end of the Fifth Form, by the biennial Careers Convention and by the Careers Adviser from the Connexions local careers service.
Resources
The Careers Room contains a wealth of reference books, a complete set of HE prospectuses, internet access and the ECCTIS data base for all HE and FE courses.
