Science is about discovering how things work and investigating why things work in a particular way. The aim of Science teaching in the Junior School is to ensure that the boys enjoy learning about their world - what the world is like and why it is like it is - and that they start to think in a scientific way through observation, question, prediction, experiment and evaluation of results.

    Co-ordinator: Mrs F M L Hartwell BSc

    Outline of work

The Science course is based on the QCA Science scheme for Key Stage 2 and includes topics on Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Environmental Sciences.

Topics are visited at least twice in the 4 year course to revise, reinforce and extend knowledge at the appropriate level. Investigative work is undertaken by groups of boys where the topic lends itself to such an approach.

    Resources

All science lessons are taught in a new science room which is well equipped with computers.
