  • Geography

Our aim in Geography is to develop in the boys a knowledge and understanding of the place in which they live, of how people and places inter-relate and interconnect, of human and physical environments, and of the relationship between people and their environment. We also aim to stimulate the boys’ interest in the Earth’s surface and to develop an informed concern about the quality of the environment and the future of human habitat.

    Co-ordinator: M Byrne BEd

    Outline of work

Geography is about developing knowledge, understanding and skills relating to people, places and environment at different scales, in the United Kingdom and overseas, and an appreciation of how people and places relate to each other and the wider world.

Boys will learn to explain the differences and human characteristics of places, and their similarities and differences. They will know the location of key places in the United Kingdom, Europe and the world and be able to recognise how selected physical and human processes cause changes in the character of places and environments.

Boys will undertake geographical investigations by asking and responding to questions and using a range of geographical enquiry skills, resources and their own observations.

    Resources

The boys have a variety of resources available to them which include the internet, videos and books. Geography field trips are arranged throughout the year.
