Introduction from the Headmaster
Bury Grammar School Boys is an independent grammar school for 800 boys between the ages of 7 and 18. We provide an exciting and challenging academic education which encourages each boy to develop a love of learning and to acquire the skill of independent study.
We aim to nurture the whole person – mind, body and spirit – through a strong emphasis on both academic study and extracurricular involvement. We also aim to prepare each individual for an adulthood during which he will enjoy a fulfilling and rewarding career, seek to make a contribution to the betterment of the society of which he is part, and be equipped to make creative and constructive use of his leisure time.
The boys are cared for by highly-qualified and dedicated staff who have faith in the ability and potential of those they teach and the experience and skill to nurture them. Working in a safe, stimulating and friendly environment, we challenge the boys to achieve high standards in both their academic studies and their extra-curricular activities. We seek to be partners with the boys and their parents in helping to create young lives which value both wisdom and virtue.
I hope this website will show you that Bury Grammar School Boys is a lively, purposeful and happy community. I should be delighted to welcome you to the school and to have the opportunity of sharing with you something of the richness of the education we offer.
