Extra curricular Activities
Extra-curricular activities enable children to develop the skills that they have already learnt during lessons and to put them into practice in a new context. During lunchtimes, children are able to take part in clubs including the Strings Group, Choir and Drama Club. Children quickly learn the value of team work as well as having lots of fun! Many children from Year 1 upwards learn to play a musical instrument within school; Violin and Cello lessons are available from specialist teachers.
After school activities include football and short tennis. These and many other activities are led by qualified coaches who visit the school.
We encourage our pupils to have a good deal of community spirit and we are committed to several charities such as Retrak, Children in Need and Comic Relief. We all enjoy non- uniform days, raffles and sponsored events to support these and other charities. The older children are very keen to organise their own fund raising and have many good ideas.
School trips are an essential part of learning where children can extend all that they have learnt within the classroom. Recent trips for the Infants have included visits to Manchester Museum of Science and Industry, Lancashire Railway Museum and Manchester Airport.
