The aim of Science teaching in the Junior School is to inspire a curiosity and enjoyment of Science by encouraging pupils to explore the world around them: developing skills to question, investigate and make discoveries supporting their increasing scientific knowledge and understanding.
Outline of Work
The Science Scheme is structured around a practical approach to learning, with hands-on activities to model and reinforce scientific ideas as well as increasingly independent investigations across the breadth of curriculum topics including living things, materials, electricity, light, sound and space.
Skills based objectives include:
- Composing scientific questions for investigation
- Planning and carrying out scientific investigations
- Interpreting results and drawing conclusions
All Science lessons are taught in the superbly equipped Science Room where plenty of space and apparatus provide an exciting learning environment.
