Co-Ed Infants

The Co-educational Infants School is for girls and boys aged 3 to 7 years.

It combines academic excellence with the best of modern educational practice, always set within a caring environment where children are happy and feel secure and valued.

The school is housed in a custom-designed building which caters specifically for the needs of the younger members of the school.

The Infant School consists of 4 years: Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. Children can start in the Nursery the term they are 3 years of age. Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, each have 3 classes with an average number of 20 children per class.

We endeavour to cater for each child’s needs, differentiating on the basis of planned task and degree of support.

Nursery & Pre School – Introduction

Note: Nursery and Pre school admissions interviews taking place now. Click on Admissions on the menu bar for more details.

Science-ChildThere are approximately 50 full time places in our Nursery and Pre School for children who are already 3 on the 1st of September or who will turn 3 during the term in which they start. The swan is the emblem of Bury Grammar so the school’s youngest members are called the Fledglings and Cygnets.

The aim of the Nursery and Pre School is to create an environment which eases your child’s first steps into education. We seek to form excellent relationships between children, families and teachers, helping your child to grow and develop into a happy, healthy and self-assured individual.

The main point of focus for the pupils is to become good citizens, developing in self-awareness and self-confidence as well as learning to play and work together and to recognise their place in the community.

Co-Educational Infants – Introduction

Our Co educational Infant school welcomes boys and girls from the age of 3. It combines academic excellence with the best of modern practice and we were delighted when this was recognised by the Independent Schools Inspectorate in March 2014. All our children are made to feel safe and secure and we know that this provides the best environment to learn.

The Infants enjoy the custom built school which was designed specifically to meet the needs of the youngest members of our community. They spend most of their time within the building as it has a gym, music room and Learning Resource Centre housing both the library and ICT suite however they also have access to our playground, playing field, dining room and swimming pool to ensure that they are able to experience a wide ranging curriculum.

Children remain in this building until they are 7 when they make the smooth transition to the 2 Junior Schools.
