Admissions
Pre-school and Coeducational Infant School (for boys and girls between the ages of 3 and 7)
The Co-educational Infant School is a self-contained unit within the Girls' School. Boys in the Kindergarten progress to the BGSB Junior School without further testing. Applications for places should be made to the Registrar at Bury Grammar School Girls.
Junior School (for boys between the ages of 7 and 11)
Admission can be at 7+, 8+, 9+ or 10+ and is by entrance examination and interview held in January. Arrangements can be made for examination and interview at other times during the year. Places are offered in the expectation that at the age of 11 the boys will transfer to the Senior School. Although Junior School boys must pass the Senior School entrance examination, we would not offer a boy a place in the Junior School unless we had confidence in his potential to do so.
Senior School (for boys between the ages of 11 and 18)
Admission is usually at 11+, with candidates selected through entrance examination and interview held in January. Arrangements can be made for examination and interview at other times of the year and for entry into another year group.
Applications are welcome from able boys who wish to join our Sixth Form. Entry is subject to interview and satisfactory GCSE grades.
Fees and Bursaries
Details of fees and bursaries are provided in the About Us section of the website. Our bursary scheme exists to enable us to admit as many boys, whose parents cannot afford the fees, as the bursary funds allow.
